How does a carpet patch work?
-
Uh oh! There's a hole in your carpet!
Maybe a new puppy chewed it, maybe a child got some scissors, maybe a hookah coal got knocked off… yes, we’ve seen all of these. Whatever the reason, you have a hole in your carpet you need fixed!
-
Better call the experts!
Caring Carpet Care is always here for your carpet repair needs!
-
We begin by removing the affected carpet.
Precision is key here, as a good sharp cut is needed to hide the edges later. Just call us the carpet doctors, this is nylon surgery here!
-
Next, we remove the "donor" patch.
This can be from a closet under the stairs, in a spare bedroom, or from a spare roll of carpet if you have some. Who are we kidding, no one ever saves the spare carpet.
-
Then the donor patch is used to replace the hole.
This is the trickiest part, as this is usually in a high traffic area and seams need to be as invisible as possible. This is where having over a decade of experience comes in handy!
-
Finally, the donor hole is replaced.
This can be done with either the original hole or with close matching carpet, if provided by homeowner. Sometimes I will have spare swatches with me, but I can’t possibly keep that many types of carpet on hand.
